2018 Isuzu mu-X and D-Max updated with Blue Power diesel engine

MANILA: In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary, Isuzu has introduced refreshed mu-X and D-Max in the local market. The 2018 Isuzu mu-X and D-Max not only features cosmetic changes, they have also received an upgraded powertrain. This is the same engine which was introduced in the models launched in Thailand earlier this year.

The exterior changes of the 2018 mu-X include reshaped front bumper and new lower accents. The headlights are also tweaked a bit which incorporates LED daytime running lights for a sharp appeal and improved illumination. Complementing the unit is present a mildly updated grille that features more creases at its corners. At the rear, the mu-X now highlights bumper moldings and a new set of tail lights. The side profile has been kept intact with the only difference of a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels that have replaced the old 17-inch wheels. However, the pickup version, the D-Max has not received any updates on its styling front.

The cabin of both the drives is updated with new instrument clusters with a refreshed vehicle information display. There are new soft-touch materials and seats that all together helps in improving the overall appeal of the cabin in an effective manner. The list of new features includes Auto-headlight leveling, Hill Descent Control and a new 8-inch entertainment screen that comes with USB link and text-to-speed navigation. In the D-Max, you will get USB ports along with Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.

Under the hood, a new turbodiesel Blue Power engine which is also known as 4JJ1-TCX act as the driving force for both the drives. It is capable of delivering a maximum power output of 177 PS, which was 163 PS in the earlier version. Whereas, the peak torque is 380 Nm. Even the five-speed automatic transmission is replaced by a six-speed unit in the mu-X that is also available with the sequential shift mode. The D-Max continues to transmit the power through the old five-speed automatic transmission.

The prices of 2018 Isuzu D-Max and mu-X are yet to be revealed by the manufacturer which might come out by the next month.
