2024 PEVS: FAW Bestune rolls out Pony EV

MANILA: FAW Bestune Philippines — in partnership with QSJ Motors Philippines Incorporated — has released the Pony electric compact car.

Set to compete against city electric vehicles (EV) such as the Jetour Ice Cream, BYD Seagull, and VinFast VF 3, the FAW Bestune Pony is touted as an “everyday galloper.”

Electric powertrain

The Philippine market FAW Bestune Pony is powered by a single electric motor that can dish out approximately 26 horsepower with 85 Newton-meters to the front wheels.

It has a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The battery pack (lithium-ion phosphate) used by the FAW Bestune Pony, which is rated at 13.9 kilowatt-hours, can be charged fully in four to five hours and will give its would-be owners up to 170 kilometers of emissions-free driving.

Exterior, interior features

Outside, the FAW Bestune Pony packs halogen headlamps with a cute-looking fascia. The charging port can be accessed by opening the emblem at the center of the grille.

The side fenders get integrated turn signals while its doors have standard, body-colored handles and some claddings that match the trim color of the front fascia.

It rides on 13-inch wheels with hubcaps.

At the back, the FAW Bestune Pony has a small glass, a pair of halogen taillamps, a manual hatch, and a cute-looking bumper.

The cabin is equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster, with controls for the window, air conditioning unit, and gear shifter — all mounted on the dashboard.

It has seats for four.

Chassis

The FAW Bestune Pony is equipped with MacPherson independent struts.

Stopping power comes from a pair of disk brakes at the front and two drum brakes at the rear.

Pricing

The FAW Bestune Pony is available in a single variant and is priced at P588,000.

PEVS 2024

The 12th edition of PEVS kicks off today (Thursday) and will run until October 26 (Saturday) at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
