Aston Martin DBS Superleggera uncovered
MANILA: Aston Martin’s new flagship model has been officially unveiled. The most powerful DBS Superleggera is touted to be the automaker’s fastest production GT till date. The new DBS not only outclasses the Vanquish S but proves to be the revival of the iconic ‘Superleggera’ name that diminished back in 1967.
The new DBS Superleggera is a fine combination of a full-fledged sports car and a powerful GT machine, with lightweight and strong materials, athletic looks and beefy V12 power mill. On the outside, it features a large front grille flanked by sharp and sleek headlamps. It gets lightweight 5-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels dipped in glossy black paint.
The alloys are wrapped by especially-designed Pirelli tyres that offer optimum grip to the super machine. At the rear, you get the F1-inspired double diffuser, which has been introduced for the first time on the DBS. Additionally, there is a quad exhaust system and elegant-looking tail lights.
Inside, the DBS Superleggera amazes you with Alcantara leather wrapped seats with sporty red contrast stitching, paddle shifters, power-adjustable seats, semi-digital instrument panel, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Other notable features of the supercar include a built-in satellite navigation, Wi-fi connectivity, an infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth, iPod and iPhone support, tire pressure monitoring system, keyless entry, 360-degree around-view camera, park assist and the park distance display.
Under the flesh, the new DBS gets a V12 5.2-litre bi-turbo powerplant that produces 725PS of max power at 6,500rpm and a healthy torque of 900Nm at 1,800-5,000rpm, mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission system. It is more powerful than the standard DBS11 by 117PS and 200Nm. The supercar can clock a speed of 100kmph from zero in just 3.4 seconds before attaining the top speed of 340kmph, which is incredible.
Dr Andy Palmer, the CEO of Aston Martin said, “DBS Superleggera not only marks the return of a great Aston Martin name but signals our return to the very pinnacle of the Super GT sector. Handsome beyond measure, its lightweight carbon composite and aluminium body is sculpted into a shape with tremendous presence and charisma.”
In addition, there are three different driving modes for the driver to switch between, GT, Sport and Sport Plus. Based on the selected mode, the Super GT relaxes or ignites the powertrain. The new DBS Superleggera also comes with a new set of features that include a limited-slip differential, active exhaust system and a tweaked torque vectoring system for smoother power delivery and handling.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will start getting delivered to customers in the last quarter of 2018.
