Audi Q4 will be added to the company’s lineup by 2019
The Q lineup has recently welcomed its new member, the Audi Q8 at the NAIAS 2017 and now, the German automaker is gearing up for its next member. Yes, at the annual press conference of Audi, it was announced that Audi Q4 will make its market debut by 2019. The SUV will be positioned between the Q3 and Q5 and will compete against the likes of BMW X2, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Range Rover Evoque.
Audi Q4 will be based on the MQB platform which is also the base of the second generation Audi Q3. With broader stance and enhanced dimensions, the Audi Q4 will outright its competitors in the particular aspect. In terms of design, the Audi Q4 will feature a curved roofline with a liftback-style tailgate. The cabin will get all the features of any other MQB based models. The equipment list includes full-HD instrument display, gesture control, 9.2-inch touchscreen navigation monitor, inductive smartphone charging and advanced connectivity features.
Under the hood, options will include a new generation petrol and engine diesel units. In the beginning, the Audi Q4 will be offered with a common 1.5-litre capacity engine. Later, 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine unit will be added to the list. In the range-topping RS trim, a 2.5-litre, five cylinder petrol engine will be equipped with 406 hp maximum power. Just like Audi Q8, a plug-in petrol-electric Q4 e-tron model will be also offered which will be capable of running up to 50km with electric supply.
Audi has not confirmed on the markets where the Q4 will be available but, it is expected that it will cover a number of Asian countries. In the Philippines, Audi is currently offering its Q3, Q5, and Q7 in the SUV segment. Among its latest launches, Audi Q2 is the entry level SUV which is due for the launch in the Philippines. So, it will be interesting to see whether Audi introduces its complete Q family in the country or not.
