The Toyota Hiace is popular due to its interior space. Certain variants, such as the Commuter Deluxe, can seat a whopping 15 people, and that, of course, is great for those with large families, people who like to travel with extended family, or business people engaged in the transport industry. 

Moreover, the Toyota Hiace lineup has a variant that fits a wide variety of needs. Low-cost transport businesses can use the previous-generation Hiace Commuter, which is still sold locally. The model also offers cargo variants without seats, which are ideal for logistics businesses. 

On the higher end of the scale are the GL Grandia Tourer, the GL Grandia, and the Super Grandia Elite. The aforementioned offer more creature comforts, while having less seating space. Toyota Hiace: other specifications

The most expensive version of the Toyota Hiace is the Super Grandia Elite, powered by a 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-four engine that produces up to 174 horsepower and 450 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to its rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. 

On the outside, the model comes fitted with LED lighting fixtures, power-folding/adjust side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a rear roof spoiler, and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. 

For seating, the Toyota Hiace Super Grandia Elite features a three-row configuration with captain seats in the second row. Both the driver’s seat and the second-row captain seats offer power adjustability, while the third row provides 50:50 split-folding functionality. The captain seats also have an adjustable Ottoman.

Other noteworthy interior amenities available on the Hiace Super Grandia Elite include, but are not limited to, the following:

The aforementioned are supported by a number of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), which include pre-collision system, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert. 

Final thoughts

The Toyota Hiace is one of the more versatile vans in the Philippine market right now. The aforementioned is accomplished by its sheer number of trims, which range from utilitarian models to luxurious rides. And, of course, the model was kitted out well by Toyota with a peppy engine, a comprehensive safety kit, and, depending on the trim, loads of comfort-oriented bits. 

For reference, the next-generation Toyota Hiace ranges from P1.621 million-P3.331 million, across seven main variants. The previous-gen Hiace, meanwhile, is offered in three different versions with a price ranging from P1.195 million-P1.516 million.
