BYD Cars PH donates Shark 6 DMO, Sealion 6 DM-i to Ayala Foundation

MANILA: The Ayala Foundation, the social development arm of the Ayala Group of Companies, has received three Shark 6 Dual-Mode Offroad (DMO) and one Sealion 6 Dual-Mode Intelligent (DM-i) units from ACMobility-owned BYD Cars Philippines. 

The aforementioned are all equipped to provide mobility during emergencies; as such, the Ayala Foundation will utilize them to be able to respond to disasters as they happen, and as a part of its greater implementation of its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management initiatives. 

“These vehicles are tools for hope, equipped to support fast mobilization during emergencies and help deliver aid, equipment, and relief where they’re needed most,” Chief Executive Officer of ACMobility Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said.

“With advanced electric technology and modern rescue features, they’re built to serve communities in times of greatest need,” Zobel de Ayala added. 

Apart from functioning as emergency response vehicles, the newly turned-over units will also be utilized to deliver disaster preparedness kits and water filtration systems to vulnerable communities across Luzon during disasters. 

In addition, the Ayala Foundation shared that it has already made use of the BYD Shark 6 DMO to deliver food packs and go bags to communities in Bagong Silang in Quezon City, Tañong in Malabon, Bangkulasi in Navotas, Parola in Manila, and Tumana in Marikina. 

BYD La Union likewise stepped in to assist communities in the province who were affected by Typhoon Emong. Specifically, the Shark 6 DMO and Sealion 6 DM-i provided a chance for residents to charge their devices via their V2L functionality.

In the Philippine market, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i compact crossover currently retails at P1.548 million. Under the hood of the five-seater model is the Dual Mode Intelligent powertrain system, which can produce up to 214 horsepower (hp) and 325 Newton-meters of torque. 

As proven by Zigwheels Philippines’ previous on-road tests with the model, it has a combined range of 1,100 kilometers (km).

The BYD Shark 6 DMO, on the other hand, is a dual-cab five-seater pickup truck with a price ranging from P2.098 million-P2.298 million. 

Propelling the Shark 6 DMO is a 1.5-liter engine paired with a Blade battery and a permanent synchronous motor. At maximum, it can churn out 429 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Here is a table showcasing the basic specs of the BYD-made pickup truck:
