CAMPI-TMA Feb. 2025 YTD sales performance nearly hits 77k-unit mark

MANILA: Total year-to-date vehicle sales of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) in February almost breached the 77,000-unit mark.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many vehicles did CAMPI-TMA sell as of February 2025?

The two groups collectively sold 76,768 units in the first two months of 2025.
  • What factors contributed to the latest sales performance?

CAMPI-TMA attributed the retail output to supply chain stability, growing demand for electric and autonomous vehicles, and global economic conditions.
  • Based on their joint report, the two groups collectively sold 76,768 examples in the January-February 2025 timeline. This showed a more than six-percent growth rate compared to their retail performance for the same period last year (72,132).

Last month alone, CAMPI-TMA sold 39,164 vehicles — nearly three-percent higher than the 38,072 vehicles delivered to buyers in February 2024, and four percent more versus the 37,604 units rolled out to customers in January 2025.

Further, the two groups already sold 3,416 new energy vehicles (NEV) during the first two months of the year — mostly coming from the hybrid models.

Below is the breakdown of CAMPI-TMA’s NEV sales:

    Hybrid electric vehicles

    3,034

    Battery electric vehicles

    335

    Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

    47

In February 2025, buyers purchased 1,816 NEV units from CAMPI-TMA members — which reflected a 13.5-percent rise from the 1,600-unit churn recorded last January.

Continuing to drive the groups’ sales numbers are models under the commercial vehicle segment — turning over 60,885 units during the January-February timeline and cornering 79.31 percent of the overall retail output. The said figure is 12.6 percent higher than the 54,048 examples rolled out in the same period the previous year.

Such a performance buffered the 12.4-percent slide that the passenger car segment experienced after selling 15,883 units for the initial two months of the year compared to the 18,129 vehicles sold in January-February 2024.

CAMPI-TMA attributed the numbers to the following:

    • Supply chain stability
    • Growing demand for electric and autonomous vehicles
    • Global economic conditions

“There has been a notable consumers' preferences for connected and personalized driving experiences, alongside a shift towards sustainability and environmental concerns. Technological advancements in AI, sensors, and infotainment systems, among others, are showing potential to transform the industry overtime. These factors will contribute to the overall positive sales trends in 2025,” the group shared.
