Car Sales in Philippines to Increase to 500,000 Units Annually
MANILA: The auto industry executives have predicted that car sales in Philippines will hit 500,000 units annually in coming years. Now is this a good news or bad, is left on you all to decide because the cars are increasing but the roads are the same. With boom in auto demands, the infrastructure is not developing which means a lot of honking, parking issues, and traffic problem.
Nissan President, Toti Zara said, “ I really believe new-car sales in the Philippines will reach 500,000 units a year in the next fiver years.” This statement is alarming for all of us because with the current sales performance of about 300,000 units annually in Philippines, the traffic problems in Metro Manila is already head over heels.
On this concern, Zara added that 10 of the 11 new Nissan dealerships in the pipeline will be located outside Metro Manila and that's where the growth will be. "The Philippine car market is unique in that more than 50% of new-car sales are concentrated in the capital region," he pointed out. "That will change in the coming years."
Well, that assures one thing that a lot of Nissan and other brand cars will be seen on Philippine roads soon but at the same time we hope that the Philippine government also increases its pace of road construction so that Filipinos can truly enjoy driving their lovely priced possessions.
