Cavitex toll fees to hike on May 12

MANILA: Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), the concessionaire for the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex), will implement new toll rates at the Cavitex Parañaque Toll Plaza beginning on Thursday, May 12.

This follows the Toll Regulatory Board's approval of CIC's and joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority's contractual tariff adjustments toll petitions in 2011 and 2014, as well as its add-on toll petition for Phases 1 and 2 improvement works done in the Cavitex R-1 Expressway in 2020.

The completion of an asphalt overlay along the entire stretch of Cavitex, the provision of the Pacific flyover and left turn facility, bridge widenings, and regular heavy maintenance work to guarantee road quality and safety for motorists, among other improvements, are now being enjoyed by the 160,000 daily average motorists of Cavitex.

Starting on May 12 at 12 a.m., motorists will be charged with a VAT-exclusive rate of P4.62 per kilometer for Class 1 vehicles, P9.24 for Class 2 vehicles, and P13.86 for Class 3 vehicles passing along the 6.48-kilometer R-1 Expressway (from Cavitex Longos, Bacoor entry to MIA exit, and vice versa).

Based on the new toll rate matrix, motorists will pay P33 for Class 1 vehicles, up from P25; P67 for Class 2 vehicles, up from P50; and P100 for Class 3 vehicles, up from P75.

To assist PUV operators and drivers in adjusting to the change, CIC will offer them toll rate relief through a rebate scheme that will let them keep their previous rates for the next three months.
