Chery Tiggo 5 reaches 1-M export milestone

MANILA: Chery Auto has managed to export its one-millionth Tiggo 5 (known as the Tiggo 4 in other markets) unit from the Dalian Port in Liaoning, China. 

The marque considers the aforementioned as a major milestone as it highlights the Tiggo 5 as a “standout product” within its global lineup. Additionally, the achievement showcases the Chinese brand’s production capability and eagerness to push forward technological innovation. 

Since the model’s initial global introduction in 2018, Chery shared that the Tiggo 5 has already reached 70 countries. As such, it has stepped up to become one of its flagship “global models,” which aids in continuously reinforcing the car maker’s global brand image and reputation. 

With the one-millionth Tiggo 5 unit shipped out, it also joins two other Chery units that have reached a similar milestone. Other Chery models with a 1 million unit export milestone include the Tiggo 2, Tiggo 7, and Tiggo 8. 

On top of the recent export accolade, the Chery Tiggo 5 was also awarded a five-star safety rating by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). 

Per the safety organization, the model received an adult occupant protection rating of 88 percent, a child occupant protection rating of 87 percent, and a safety assist rating of 85 percent. 

Notably, the crossover received full marks in the side impact and far-side impact tests. 

Chery Tiggo 5 in the Philippine market

In the local market, the available version is slightly different compared to the global-spec Tiggo 5. Specifically, it is a hybrid model called the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro and it is offered with a starting price of P1.14 million.

For its interior, the electrified subcompact crossover comes with features such as leather upholstery, a seven-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a six-piece speaker set, and plenty of safety gear - among others.

Chery Auto Philippines has already previewed the new Tiggo 5X Pro at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show.

The brand has yet to declare an exact launch date for the said model, but it carries the same styling cues as the global-spec Chery Tiggo 5 (Tiggo 4). 

The yet-to-be-launched model also boasts noteworthy features such as wireless smartphone charging, a power sunroof, a 360-degree view camera, ambient lighting, and many other creature comforts.
