Chevrolet Camaro to bid adieu in 2023?

MANILA: Who doesn’t like sports cars? Especially when they are the Camaro and Mustang kind of beauties. American muscle cars have always been received very warmly by people around the globe, however, automakers have shown no hesitation in discontinuing some major icons of late. We might see something similar happening in 2023. With the plans of a seventh-generation Camaro already put back into the drawer, Chevrolet, in all possibilities, might do away with the Camaro in the year 2023.

Reports suggest that the plans of the seventh-generation Camaro have been consigned to the current model and the sports car is said to end its journey, once again, in 2023. The new Camaro was re-introduced in 2016 only and the discontinuation in 2023 will make the second lifespan of the Chevrolet Camaro to be a seven year one. “While we will not engage in speculation, we will remind you of our recently announced updates coming to the Camaro lineup this fall. All of our updates are customer-driven to improve the car and its driving experience”, said a Chevrolet representative when asked about the fate of the Camaro.

What further indicates the high probability of the Camaro badge to die again is its platform that is going to phase out pretty soon. Called the Alpha platform by General Motors, the underpinning of the Camaro is set to be replaced by the new A2XX platform. However, the Camaro won’t be receiving the favours, and as a result, the new platform won’t be laying the foundation for the Camaro. Interestingly though, there are new Camaro models like LT1, Camaro Shock Concept, and other hybrid & electric models said to be making their way out soon.

But with the Camaro itself on the verge of another death, it’s nothing but hard to expect anything new with the Camaro badge before General Motors decides to develop and bring out the seventh-generation model. 2023 is still quite far away, so, if you’re also a Chevrolet Camaro devotee, do yourself a favour and get yourself one of the last few Camaros before its hard to find one after 2023.
