CTEK unveils 2 new smart battery chargers on ‘Charge your Car Day’

MANILA: CTEK celebrates “Charge your Car Day” today, October 5. This annual program is the brand’s initiative to celebrate the significance of the battery as the “heart of a vehicle” and the importance of keeping it at optimal condition.

In line with this, CTEK Philippines hosted its first-ever virtual media event. It was hosted by Sam YG, one of the mainstay influencers in Philippine motoring, and graced by CTEK Director of Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific (APAC) Robert Briggs.

According to CTEK, the main objective of the event was to promote the significance of battery charging and raise awareness on how it supports the health and shelf life of a car’s battery. “Regular charging maintenance not only keeps vehicles ready to go, but on a personal level, it affords the vehicle owner that much-needed peace of mind, especially at a time when emergencies can happen in the blink of an eye,” CTEK Philippines said in a statement.

CTEK also tackled the impact of choosing the right charger on the battery’s charging efficiency. One of the key highlights of the event was the launch of the two new CTEK products that highlight the brand’s unique adaptive charging technology—the CS Free, which is the world’s first truly portable battery charger, and the CS One, which features the unique APTO adaptive charging technology.

Both products were developed to enhance the mobile lifestyle of vehicle owners and to accommodate the need for convenient charging solutions. They were also designed to be smarter than ever—consumers simply need to connect the charger and leave it to do its work, with no buttons needing to be pushed.

The CS Free features CTEK’s new adaptive boost technology, which allows the charger to generate only the needed power based on its initial, automatic analysis on the state of the battery. It automatically identifies the safest way to produce just enough power to start the vehicle. The CS Free does not shock the battery to prevent damage. It can get a flat battery running in just 15 minutes.

The internal battery of the CS Free can last for up to one year when fully charged. It generates up to 5A of power for all types of 12V batteries, including EFB and lithium. The CS Free also comes with USB-C and USB-A charging ports, allowing consumers to charge their mobile devices through the car battery.

The CS Free can also be used as a maintenance charger when connected to a power source, whether it is an AC outlet, a PD charger, USB-C cable, or even a 60W solar panel. It comes with an LED display which shows how much time is left before the battery is fully charged.

Meanwhile, the CS One is a 12V adaptive battery charger that uses the APTO adaptive charging technology. This technology allows the CS One to assess the chemistry, size, and heath of the battery so it can automatically apply the customized charging program needed. It can also detect if the ambient temperature is hot and cold and adjust the output voltage.

The CS One comes with a dedicated battery maintenance feature for lead-acid and lithium batteries. It can automatically detect bad cells in the battery and alert the user if a battery can no longer hold a charge. It also comes with a countdown indicator that notifies the user when a flat battery can be restarted or how much time is left until the battery is fully charged.

The CS One also comes with a new safety feature: polarity-free clamps. This feature takes away the confusion on which clamp goes on which terminal as it automatically works out which clamp is on which charging point.

The CS One also features Recond (recondition) mode that brings deeply discharged batteries back to life, Supply mode that transforms the charger into a 12V power supply, and Lithium Wake-up mode for lithium with under-voltage protection (UVP). These three modes can be activated and accessed through the CTEK mobile app which can be downloaded on iOS and Android devices.

The CS Free is now available on CTEK Philippines’ official store on LazMall (lazada.com.ph/shop/ctek) and Shopee Mall (shopee.ph/ctekphilippines). The CS One is yet to be released in the Philippines.

CTEK has also been actively working on its initiatives to promote a more sustainable motoring lifestyle. These initiatives include the acquisition of Chargestorm AV in recent years and the development of electric vehicle charging solutions to support electrified mobility across the globe. CTEK Philippines has also conducted a special panel discussion with the theme “ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).” The panel discussion tackled on how the automotive industry plays an important role in the country’s direction toward a cleaner future.

The panel discussion was participated in by influential industry leaders including Nissan Philippines Inc. President Atsushi Najima; Toyota Motor Philippines Director and GT Capital Auto Dealership, Inc. Chairman Vince Socco; SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corp. (BMW Philippines) President and Chief Operating Officer Spencer Yu; Volvo Cars Philippines Marketing Director Christopher David Yu; and Auto Nation Group, Inc. (Mercedes-Benz Philippines) Senior Manager for Product Planning Benjamin Bautista.

The panelists were also joined virtually by E-Sakay Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Aguirre. E-Sakay is a subsidiary of Meralco that focuses on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure solutions.
