Gas, diesel prices up this Christmas week

MANILA: It appears that starting today, December 20, will see a return to higher fuel prices after several weeks of big rollbacks.

The most recent warnings from numerous fuel suppliers state that the price of diesel would increase by a significant P2.90 per liter. While this is the case, the cost of gasoline will only increase by P0.70 per liter.

Caltex implemented the price hike on midnight Tuesday, while Petron and Shell have done the same from 6 a.m. onwards.

Around the same time as the above fuel companies, Cleanfuel, Flying V, Petro Gazz, Phoenix, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Unioil followed the price change.

After these impending price increases, the cost of gasoline will have increased by a total of P13.95 per liter since the start of 2022, with current retail pump prices for 91-octane gasoline varying from P60.55 to P70.85 per liter. In contrast, the cost of diesel has increased by a net amount of P28.50 per liter, with present pumps ranging in price from P65.45 to P74.40.

Motorists can modify their driving techniques to save fuel. They can opt for a fuel-efficient engine, lighten the load on their car, drive cautiously, keep in mind that speed affects fuel consumption, check the tire pressure in their car, lower the windows, turn off the air conditioning, and combine their journeys.
