Geely Auto breaches 1.3-M global sales record in 2023

MANILA: The Geely Auto brand sold a total of 1,309,580 million vehicles globally last year.

According to the Chinese carmaker, the improved global sales it enjoyed in 2023 was spurred by Geely’s newly launched high-end electrified Yinhe product series.

Launched in March last year, the Geely Yinhe family so far launched two plug-in electric vehicles (PHEV) namely the L7 hybrid sport utility vehicle and L8 hybrid sedan; and one battery-electric car, the E8 sedan. The latter won the prestigious 2024 iF Design Award.

Thanks to its modern electrified offerings, the Yinhe line managed to sell over 10,000 units for six consecutive months. Contributing to Geely’s overall sales milestone.

While Geely’s Yinhe line will focus on electrified models in 2024, the Hangzhou-headquartered auto firm’s Geely Star product series will hold the fort for the carmaker in the internal combustion engine-powered vehicle front.

No mention of what Geely cars were among the brand’s global top-sellers in 2023. In the Philippines, its lineup consists of the Coolray, Okavango, Azkarra, Emgrand, and GX3 Pro.

Lynk and Co

Geely also shared that Lynk and Co — the joint venture brand between it and Volvo Cars — sold 220,250 vehicles globally in 2023.

“The brand deepened its focus on electrified vehicles with the introduction of its latest generation ultra-long-range EM-P hybrid models and plans for its first fully electric model,” Geely said in a press release.

“In 2024, the proportion of electrified vehicles as part of the brand’s monthly sales reached as high as 47 percent. Looking ahead, Lynk and Co plans to focus on enhancing profitability in Europe while also accelerating its expansion into the Middle East and Asia Pacific markets,” it added.

Speaking of which, Lynk and Co recently launched in the Philippines under United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated. Its local roster is made up of the 01 PHEV as well as the 05 SUV and 06 crossover with internal combustion engines.

Zeekr

Geely’s global electric mobility technology solutions brand Zeekr, also maintained rapid growth thanks to the successful launch of two new vehicles: the Zeekr 009 and Zeekr X.

Due to the victorious introduction of the aforementioned models and the brand’s existing offerings, Zeekr was able to contribute some 118,685 vehicles in 2023 to Geely Auto Group’s overall global sales.

Zeekr also entered the country through Willy Tee Ten’s Autohub Group. The company’s local wing is yet to announce its initial offerings said to be scheduled sometime in the second quarter of the year.
