Geely poised to bring '1 model per quarter' in PH

As part of its efforts to recapture its market in the country, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) will aggressively bring in more nameplates that would meet the market’s needs.

During his speech at the brand relaunch, GMP President Will Wan announced that it would have regular vehicle unveilings throughout the year, saying that it will launch one new model every quarter.

The aforementioned vow, the head of the brand’s local subsidiary noted, is a “sign of Geely’s commitment to the market.”

Should this goal be realized, it would easily double Sojitz G Auto Philippines’ then target of introducing two Geely nameplates per year. To note, the aforementioned firm was the brand’s local distributor before the newly-created subsidiary took over all local business operations.

For February 2025 alone, GMP already launched the latest iterations of the new Emgrand. On the other hand, the Geely EX5 is expected to be revealed sometime in the second quarter of the year.

New Emgrand

Offered in sole Luxury option, the refreshed Geely Emgrand can be had for P949,000.

The new Geely Emgrand has the following overall measurements:

• Length, width, height (in millimeters [mm>): 4,638 x 1,822 x 1,460
• Wheelbase (in mm): 2,650
• Seating capacity: Five

Those who love the car's previous iteration for its looks might continue to appreciate the vehicle as it still comes with the same trapezoidal chrome grill with vertical slats and headlamps (either in halogen or LED) with delay-off function.

The improvement in the vehicle came in the form of:

Powertrain	1.5D gasoline-fed engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission

Meanwhile, GMP has started accepting reservations for the Geely EX5. The pre-order for the electrified crossover is up until March 31.

Geely’s first electric vehicle for the Philippine market measures:

The said product is also the first model in the local roster that carried the rectangular six window logo.

Its minimalist cabin layout exudes a modern appeal to customers.

Powering the Geely EX5 is an 11-in-1 electric motor with three drive modes that can deliver as much as:

This allows the front-wheel-drive vehicle to run 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 6.9 seconds from standstill and reach a top speed of 175 kph.

Moreover, the Geely EX5’s powertrain gets its juice from the 60.22 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery that lets the vehicle cover up to 495 kilometers (based on New European Driving Cycle standards).
