Geely relaunches in PH, ushers latest local direction

MANILA: After silently operating in the country for more than six months, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) is officially back in business.

Recently, Geely Auto International’s newly-created subsidiary took over all business operations (including sales, marketing, customer service, and after-sales support) — transitioning from a general distributor setup to direct operations.

Ushering a new era for the brand, GMP also revealed its latest insignia that signal’s the marque’s revitalization efforts for its local roster — marking its entry in the rising new energy vehicle (NEV) category.

These are the new offers under the aforementioned firm.

New Coolray

First in line is the new Geely Coolray.

Revealed in September last year, the crossover’s refreshed iteration has the following measurements:

Flanking the new Geely Coolray's updated grille design are the energy matrix LED headlamps and individual daytime running lights − assuring the vehicle’s aggressive look. Complementing these portions are the strong body lines, a roof spoiler, and quad exhaust pipes.

It also has 18-inch Tomahawk-style wheels and sport brake calipers.

Welcoming occupants inside the new Geely Coolray’s cabin are the leather portions tailored on the multi-function steering wheels, seats, and door panels. Its modern amenities include the following:

• Floating 10.25-inch liquid crystal display instrument panel
• 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen (with Apple Carplay connectivity)
• Rhythmic ambient lighting
• Panoramic sunroof
• Wireless charging pad
• Front seat ventilation
• Electronically-adjustable driver seat
• Front and rear air-conditioning outlets

The refreshed crossover is propelled by the four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbocharged NordThor Power gasoline engine that can dish out the following numbers:

Power is sent to the wheels via the seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

Its myriad of safety and driver-assistive technologies are made up of:

• L2 intelligent driving blind spot detection system
• Intelligent automatic parking assist (composed of the adaptive parking brake and 12 sensors)
• 540-degree panoramic system
• Intelligent four-way digital video recorder
• Tire pressure monitoring system
• Electronic stability control
• Electronic parking brake

• Six airbags

The vehicle is composed of 66-percent high strength steel supported by the BMA global new generation modular architecture chassis.

Retailed in Purple Prism, Blur Gray, Bolt White, and Fireblast Red, and Voltaic Teal, the new Geely Coolray is available in the following variants:

• Sport Plus Light Gray: P1.329 million
• Sport Plus: P1.299 million
• Premium Plus: P1.199 million
• Comfort Plus: P1.139 million

New Emgrand

Next in the lineup that received an update is the Geely Emgrand.

The subcompact sedan measures:

No exterior appointments have been updated with the spruced-up version, which means it carries the familiar trapezoidal chrome grill with vertical slats and headlamps (either in halogen or LED) with delay-off function.

In addition, the model is fitted with17-inch tires.

Inside, the car features a recognizable layout except that the top-spec version now has a 12.3-inch touchscreen (Apple Carplay ready) — replacing the eight-inch kind.

Other cabin features that the new Geely Emgrand boasts are:

• Black cabin
• Manual dimming rear view mirror
• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster (available only for the top-tier option)
• Multi-function steering wheel
• Leather portions (top-spec version)
• Six-way electronically adjustable driver seat (for top-spec) and four-way manual adjustable front passenger seat
• Sunroof (with manual skylight shading curtain)

Under the car’s bonnet is a 1.5D gasoline-fed mill mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

This setup, which is front-wheel-drive configuration, can give out:

The new Geely Emgrand’s safety, comfort, and convenience features include:

Priced at 949,000, customers may choose any of the colors available for the new Geely Emgrand stated below:

All-new EX5

Last, but certainly not the least among GMP’s latest products is the upcoming Geely EX5.

To arrive as the brand’s first dip in the NEV arena, the electrified crossover has the following dimensions:

Among the three revealed offerings, it is only the Geely EX5 that dons the revised logo (six-window logo in a rectangular arrangement) sitting in the middle of the front fascia — along with the J-shaped daytime running lamps.

Its flowing lines help reduce drag coefficient to 0.269 Cd — making it even more aerodynamic than its competitors in the segment.

For its cabin, the Geely EX5 is equipped with modern cockpit amenities, which include two screens:

• 10-inch instrument panel
• 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system

It has a thoughtful number of compartments placed under the center console and under the rear seats. Further, the front seats can lay flat back.

Powering the Geely EX5 is an 11-in-1 electric motor that can deliver as much as:

This allows the front-wheel-drive vehicle to run 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 6.9 seconds from standstill and reach a top speed of 175 kph.

Moreover, the Geely EX5’s powertrain gets its juice from the 60.22 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery that lets the vehicle cover up to 495 kilometers (based on New European Driving Cycle standards).

The mill also offers three drive modes namely:

• Eco
• Normal
• Sport

Geely made the most out of the EX5’s engineering as the vehicle took advantage of the brand’s GEA platform and cell-to-body technology.

GMP has yet to reveal the pricing for the Geely EX3 but has already started accepting pre-orders. Instead of paying P110,000 for the reservation fee, the vehicle can be pre-order with only P10,000. The offer is up until March 31, 2025.
