Honda WR-V revealed at Sao Paulo Show 2016

MANILA: The covers from the new member of the Honda family has been finally taken off at the Sao Paulo Show 2016, where the Japanese automaker took the center stage and revealed the all-new WR-V. WR-V refers to ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’ and has been evolved after a thorough research on the customer needs. The compact body size and spacious cabin reflect the man maximum philosophy of the company and attributes like high fuel economy and stable handling performance further makes it a promising competitor in the segment, claimed by the company.

Talking about the design of WR-V, up front, the aggressive front bumper with muscular touches along with a prominent chin, are quite similar to the one seen on BR-V. On the sides, WR-V features muscular front fenders and prominent body cladding on the wheel arches, that continues to the doors and the bumpers, this gives WR-V a rugged and SUV-like look. The front and rear fenders are similar to the Jazz but, the rear gets a different set of tail light. The rear bumper continues the muscular theme along with aluminium skid plate and thick body cladding.

Under the hood configuration is expected to feature both, the petrol and diesel options. A 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, developing 90.6 hp maximum power is the first one, which is also shared by Brio. The diesel option will be the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, coupled with Earth Dreams technology, helping in improving the fuel efficiency to a significant extent. Considering the transmission options, a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox is expected for the petrol option while a 6-speed manual for diesel one.

With Honda WR-V, the Japanese automaker will not only change the game of crossover segment but, crossover-hatchback also. For the Philippines, Honda’s latest treat was BR-V at the PIMS 2016 and with WR-V premiere, Filipinos have got another member in the list of ‘Should Be Launched Cars’. Initially, the car will go on sale in the South American markets and the Philippines entry might take place by March 2017, as speculated by us.
