Arai gets Honda Cars PH top post, replaces Miyake

MANILA: Honda has appointed Hidekazu Arai as the new president of the brand’s automobile distributor in the Philippines.

The new head for Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) will replace Rie Miyake, who led the Japanese marque’s local automobile wing for three years.

Arai will bring nearly two decades of experience to the Philippines. Prior to this position, the latest HCPI president served as Chief Administrator of the Business Planning Department at Honda’s global headquarters in Japan, following significant tenures at American Honda Motor Company, Incorporated and the Saitama Factory.

Meanwhile, Miyake will hold a new position at Honda Motor Company Limited effective April 1. To recall, she announced the arrival of the all-new Prelude this year.

Per HCPI, Arai is ready to lead the company’s next chapter, thanks to his strong background in business planning, finance, and electrification strategy. His leadership aims to advance Honda’s commitment to sustainable mobility and strengthen the brand’s presence in the Philippine market through refined business practices that ensure superior product value and outstanding customer service.

Earlier, Honda canceled the global launches of the 0 series (Saloon and Sport Utility Vehicle), which were expected to arrive in the Philippines. The anticipated Philippine introduction will no longer proceed after the company reassessed its electrification strategy.
