JMS 2025: Toyota highlights newly-revealed Land Cruiser FJ

Tokyo, Japan: Toyota has publicly unveiled the Land Cruiser FJ at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2025.

The public reveal came days after the Japanese automaker announced the upcoming additional badge under its Land Cruiser line.

Revealed as part of the company’s “Toyota To You” campaign, the model (which will be first released in Japan by mid-2026) will be produced in Thailand. This could mean that the vehicle might make it to the Philippines.

Said to be a descendant of the then-popular Toyota FJ Cruiser once available in the Philippines, the new model guarantees “reliability, durability and off-road capability" plus freedom” and takes the Land Cruiser into the future.

Here are the vehicle’s specifications of the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ.

Outside, the model carries the same boxy and chunky design that can be found on other Land Cruiser models and the FJ Cruiser that has been discontinued in the Philippines.

It also comes with muscular front and rear bumpers that match the distinct grille, door claddings as well as weight bearing stepboard and roof rails. This complements the following portions:

• Skid plate
• Short overhangs
• High ground clearance

wrapped around towards the sides all the way to the beefy fender flares — just above the C-shaped illumination flanking the distinct modern grille. The vehicle’s short overhangs and high ground clearance hinted that it is made to be a capable off-roader.

To add a hint of sophistication to this brute, gloss black portions are applied on the door handles, wheels, and side mirrors.

Inside, the all-new Land Cruiser FJ exudes strength for its cabin.  Its dashboard is equipped with following portions:

• square-shaped air-conditioning vent housings,
• Multi-functional steering wheel resembling to the Land Cruiser Prado
• Conventional parking brake lever
• Physical buttons
• Four-wheel-drive switch

Notably, the sport utility vehicle utilizes the same Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform that can also be found on the Toyota Hilux, Fortuner, Tamaraw, and Innova.

While we were refrained from popping the trunk, Toyota earlier mentioned that the Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE engine paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system, and the Japanese brand’s six-speed Super Electronic Controlled transmission.

The powertrain can provide churns of up to:

For safety, the model will also get the Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a pre-collision safety system. 

The JMS 2025 is being conducted starting today (Press Day) at the Tokyo Big Sight and will be up until November 9, 2025.
