Lamborghini x Cartiera reclaimed leather collection unboxed

MANILA: Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled its new collection of leather goods in partnership with Cartiera, an ethical fashion brand that creates accessories using recycled leather and fabrics.

The collaboration between the two Italian brands exemplifies Lamborghini’s strong commitment in engaging in and contributing to circular economy projects. Instead of being disposed, leather parts left over from production that are not suitable for super sports car interiors due to minor flaws or size are recovered and transformed into new resources, with environmental and societal benefits.

Recycling high-quality leather from Sant’Agata Bolognese factories for use in ethical production results in the creation of unique and exclusive leather goods in partnership with a local brand that shares the same values. Cartiera follows the principles of social inclusion, excellent craftsmanship, and environmental sustainability.

Lamborghini’s strong approach to sustainability and labor ethics, which the company has long implemented in its manufacturing process and employee relations, is now extending to brand expansion projects. In 2020, the company introduced two circular economy projects as part of its recycling processes, allowing 56% of certain production waste (leather and carbon fiber) to be given a second life and utilized to produce new resources rather than being disposed of.

The first leather products in the “Upcycled Leather Project” include a tote bag, a smartphone case, a card holder, and a key fob, all customized with the Automobili Lamborghini shield insignia and available in black and other colors, depending on the availability of recovered leather. Purchasing a product created from recycled materials is a conscious choice — the consumer commits to actively participate in the process of reusing the lather in its entirety, recognizing its value.
