LMI officially launches Dongfeng E70 Pro EV

MANILA: Dongfeng Motors Philippines, under the distributorship of Legado Motors Incorporated (LMI), has officially launched the all-new E70 Pro electric vehicle (EV) for the local market. 

With sole variant retailing at P1.198 million, the all-electric five-seater compact sedan is touted as a comfortable but relatively accessible mobility solution designed for the modern driver. By virtue of being an EV, LMI also shared that it can provide bigger savings when it comes to operational and maintenance costs, at least when compared to a similarly sized internal combustion sedan.

Exterior

Appearance-wise, the newly-launched Dongfeng E70 Pro wears the familiar proportions of the typical compact sedan. Otherwise, it has a stylish-looking front fascia with a sleek, closed-off grille that houses its charging ports. 

From the side, the model gets a minute amount of character lines combined with body-colored door handles, as well as a set of aerodynamic 17-inch alloy wheels. Its rear section, meanwhile, is capped from the bottom by a black faux diffuser for a dash of sportiness. 

Notable exterior equipment present on the Dongfeng E70 Pro includes a pair of power-folding side mirrors, automatic headlamp functionality, and LED headlamp clusters.

Interior

Inside the all-new Dongfeng E70 Pro is a modern cockpit paired with a five-seater cabin furnished with leather upholstery, front and rear center armrests, and an automatic air-conditioning system.

Going back to its cockpit, the all-electric ride showcases a minimalist style dashboard equipped with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. The aforementioned is seamlessly linked to the vehicle’s nine-inch infotainment touchscreen display.

For connectivity, the car uses Bluetooth, USB ports, and a third-party smartphone mirroring software.

Other notable interior features of the Dongfeng E70 Pro include the following:

• Six-way manual-adjust driver’s seat

• Tilt-adjust steering column

Safety

When it comes to safety, the Dongfeng E70 Pro was equipped with a comprehensive basic kit consisting of dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, and tire pressure monitoring. Additional equipment, such as parking sensors and a reverse camera, is also available for ease of parking. 

Powertrain

Under the hood of the newly released Dongfeng E70 Pro is a permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a 55.99 kilowatt-hour (kWh) ternary lithium battery. At maximum, the said setup can generate up to 161 horsepower (hp) and 230 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

From a single charge, the Dongfeng-made sedan can cover up to 420 kilometers. It also has a fast-charging capability, which, according to LMI, is capable of reaching 30 to 80 percent state-of-charge in just 36 minutes. 

Ride quality and handling for the model are handled by a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam type suspension for its rear. Stopping power, on the other hand, is provided by front and rear disc brakes. 

Moreover, the new Dongfeng sedan nameplate also has regenerative braking, an economy mode, and an intelligent thermal management system for its battery.

As mentioned above, the Dongfeng E70 Pro is priced at P1.198 million. Included in each purchase is a wall charger and an eight-year or 170,000-kilometer battery warranty, whichever comes first.
