Check out the three-row sport utility vehicle’s notable bits here.

    On paper, the vehicle measures:

Overall dimensions (length, width, height; in millimeters [mm>)

    4,990 x 1,890 x 1,710

    Wheelbase (in mm)

    3,120

Continuing Mazda’s Kodo-Soul of Motion design, the Mazda CX-80 focuses on the beauty of space, form, and the manipulation of light and shadow—removing unnecessary elements in the vehicle.

At the fore is the long hood that emphasizes the vehicle’s front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration. At the side are the windows and chrome moldings that highlight the presence of a third-row seat, the integrated roof rail, and 20-inch high-gloss black wheels.

    Other stories:

The model no longer has an exhaust garnish at the rear for a cleaner, more elegant look.

Further, the Mazda CX-80 also served as the debut of the new Takuminuri color, Melting Copper Metallic. This new tone joins the Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Rhodium White, and Jet Black Mica options for the vehicle.

Inside, the vehicle welcomes occupants with Nappa leather (black or tan) and chrome detailing, the wide instrument panel, and thick console.

The rear seat console now has a more integrated shape and a metallic trim that matches the front console and door trim.

Its three main instrument displays are made up of:

    • 12.3-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster
    • 12.3-inch infotainment center display
    • Large window Active Driving Display

Other features amenities that customers can find the in the Mazda CX-80 are:

    • Ultra-large panoramic sunroof (950 mm wide by 1,021 mm long)
    • Three-zone climate control with air conditioning vents that span to the third row
    • Integral rear door sunshades
    • 12-speaker Bose sound system

It also offers two second-row seating configurations: a three-person bench seat—giving a seven-seat capacity, or a two-person captain’s seat with a middle console—for a six-seat layout. Amid the options, the second-row bench slides 120 mm and features a fully variable recline range of 15 to 33 degrees. Its shoulder room is 1,476 mm while the headroom there is 996 mm.

Moreover, passengers up to 1.7 meters in height can access the third-row seats thanks to its large door opening height, a second row one-touch walk-in function, a wide, flat step floor, and a large hand grip built into the side trim recess.

Luggage space of the Mazda CX-80 grows from 258 liters to 1,971 liters depending on the arrangement of the third seat. Its hands-free powered tailgate can be be both opened and closed using the sensor under the rear bumper.

Powering the Mazda CX-80 is a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder direct injection gasoline engine mated to an electric motor and a 17.8-kilowatt Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery. Power is sent to the wheels through the torque converter-less eight-speed automatic transmission.

    This setup can deliver:

Overall maximum output (in horsepower [hp>)

    322.5

Overall peak torque (in Newton meters [Nm>)

    500

Internal combustion engine maximum output (in hp)

    192

Internal combustion engine peak torque (in Nm)

    261

Electric motor maximum output (in hp)

    175

Electric motor peak torque (in Nm)

    270

The Mazda e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain allows the CX-80 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.8 seconds. Moreover, its battery gives it an all-electric range of 65 kilometers.

Juicing up the battery can be done via recovery braking, the Charge mode that prioritizes charging the battery to a level set by the user, or plugged at offices or homes.

To ensure agile vehicle dynamics, Mazda’s PHEV placed the battery pack under the floor to realize a low center of gravity. Further complementing the handling is the suspension system comprised of front double wishbone and rear multi-link set-up.

It also takes advantage of the Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) technology to stabilize cornering even at high speeds and the i-Activ AWD, an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch rear-wheel biased all-wheel-drive system.
