Mercedes-AMG launches GT 4-Door Coupe with 1,153 hp all-electric powertrain
It accelerates fast, but it also charges fast at 10-80 percent in just 11 minutes
MANILA: Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, has debuted the all-new GT 4-Door Coupe.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much horsepower and torque can the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe produce?
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe can produce up to 1,153 horsepower and 1800 Newton-meters of torque. What is the platform used by the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe?
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe uses the AMG Electric Architecture. While it has wholly ditched internal combustion power in favor of an all-electric powertrain, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is actually the continuation of the “AMG GT” X290 generation.
As a side note, the first AMG GT nameplate was initially released back in 2018 - a good seven years ago. The older version was produced in Sindelfingen, Germany, until 2023. But interestingly enough, the all-new all-electric version is still slated to be produced in the brand’s Sindelfingen facility.
So, what is the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe offering?
Powertrain
Underpinning the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA). It is the first-ever production vehicle to use the said 800-volt electric vehicle (EV) platform.

In total, the vehicle can produce up to 1,153 horsepower (hp) and 1,800 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It also has a range of 597-700 kilometers, depending on the trim.
With that kind of output, the Mercedes-AMG GT-4-Door Coupe is capable of sprinting from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2 seconds flat. Its EV architecture, meanwhile, can increase its state-of-charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 11 minutes.
Without a V8 engine, which the previous version had, the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe has to make do with simulated sound.

Exterior
While the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe bears the “Coupe” name, it is technically a sedan. It does, however, retain the look of the AMG GT xx concept, meaning that it wears the same general shape, and even a similar frowny front grille design.
The production model, however, does get a more intricate bar-type LED daytime running lamp that straddles its nose. This goes together with a subtle front lip and functional vents.
Photo from Mercedes-BenzFrom the side, the model veers away from the concept car by having a rear window. Its rear section, on the other hand, comes with round LED taillights with a blacked-out surround, an active rear wing, and a set of 19 to 21-inch wheels.
According to Mercedes-AMG, the all-new GT 4-Door Coupe has a drag coefficient of just 0.22. This, however, can be further improved with the optional AMG Aerodynamics Package, which adds a larger front splitter, a fixed rear wing, and an upgraded diffuser.
Interior
Inside the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is a tech-heavy cockpit featuring a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and two 14-inch infotainment displays (one main display and another for the passenger).
Photo from Mercedes-BenzAs expected, the said cockpit was decked out with carbon-fiber appointments, leather upholstery, and polished silver trims. It also appears to have automatic air-conditioning and some physical controls (knobs) on the center console for performance-related adjustments.
Additionally, all in-car functions are controlled by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). The aforementioned is packaged with the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz User Interface (MBUX).
Availability
For now, neither Mercedes-Benz nor Mercedes-AMG has published the full specifications of the all-new GT 4-Door Coupe. Moreover, no pricing details have come to light just yet.
The lower-spec Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe, however, is expected to be introduced this year, while the higher-spec GT 63 version will be launched sometime in 2027.
Furthermore, the German marque didn’t specify which markets the high-performance model will be sold in or when. If we had to guess, Europe will, of course, get first dibs, but Mercedes-Benz USA is also getting the car since it is already included in its “future vehicles” lineup.
