Toyota to hold basketball clinic in partnership with B.LEAGUE

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines is supporting the grassroots basketball community through B. Hope Asia Jr. Clinic, which is initiated in collaboration with B.LEAGUE - Japan’s top-tier basketball series. 

According to Toyota, the aforementioned basketball clinic coincides with the B.LEAGUE Finals Week Manila. This seeks to introduce Japanese basketball to Filipinos, while honoring the 70th anniversary of Japan-Philippines diplomatic relations. 

The clinic is catered to children and will be held on May 23 at the SM Megamall Mega Fashion Mall. With the event focusing on young athletes, it provides an avenue to foster and develop emerging talent in the said sport which Filipinos love.

Stepping in as a guest coach for the B. Hope Asia Jr. Clinic is Filipino B.LEAGUE player Kiefer Raveno of the Yokohama B-Corsairs. With such a talent imparting elite b-ball skills and a memorable experience for the little tykes who sign up for the clinic. 

Notably, TMP has been a staunch supporter of local athletes. Previously, the Japanese marque’s local arm supported a two-day gymnastics camp that was headed by Olympian Carlos Yulo. 

TMP has also supported Paralympic swimmer Ernie Gawilan’s advocacy for cleaner natural bodies of water. Last year Gawilan, with the aid of TMP, spearheaded a national mangrove planting campaign, which was held in 33 locations across the country. 

“The B. Hope Asia Jr Clinic is not the first time Toyota has supported Philippine basketball as TMP also supported Gilas Pilipinas as their official mobility partner for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup,” First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations of TMP Elijah Marcial said. 

“Our support for the upcoming B.Hope Asia Jr. Clinic is another testament of our standing commitment in supporting our grassroots athletes and the development of Philippine sports,” Marcial added.
