MANILA: Toyota is planning to establish a new vehicle manufacturing plant in India in order to improve its competitiveness in the said region. The upcoming facility will be located at the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashta, India and it is set to produce a “new sport utility vehicle (SUV)”.

The new India-based Toyota plant will manufacture a new SUV model with an annual output of 100,000 units.With this plant, Toyota says that it will have the ability to provide a steady stream of vehicle supply, not just for India, but also for surrounding regions. After all, the plant, once completed, will be able to roll out a total of 100,000 vehicles annually by the start of 2029.
For now, no details about this new SUV have been released by the Japanese marque. But being that its plant will see 100,000 vehicles made per year, however, we can assume that this is going to be a relatively accessible vehicle for most buyers.

On the one hand, Toyota’s announcement of the upcoming plant didn’t indicate whether it had EV-related manufacturing capabilities, so the Land Cruiser FJ is more likely, at least according to reports from India-based automotive publications.

Apart from its upcoming plant in India, Toyota has already unveiled its lineup of artificial technologies for its Woven City in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The aforementioned, are developed in-house by Woven by Toyota Incorporated together with several partner entities.
