Toyota Boshoku teams up with Itoki for Crown Seat Desk Chair

MANILA: Toyota Boshoku Corporation — the Japanese auto conglomerate’s component manufacturing arm — has teamed up with Tokyo-based furniture company Itoki to create the Crown Seat Desk Chair. 

Touted as a luxury office furniture for car enthusiasts, the Crown Seat Desk Chair offers a premium experience behind the desk, as the partnership between the two marques applies the technology and expertise that Toyota Boshoku Corporation has cultivated in automotive seats to products for office and living spaces. 

For Itoki’s part, it leveraged its long-standing expertise in work chair development to optimize the functionality, safety, and operability of the desk chair.

From driving to typing 

It’s no secret that one’s posture when sitting behind the wheel differs when one sits in front of a keyboard. 

To bring together the comfort and functionality of an automotive seat with the role and purpose of an office chair, Toyota Boshoku Corporation and Itoki designed parts of the Crown Seat Desk Chair — such as mobility via casters and height adjustment of the legs and armrests — into multiple, broken-down units. 

In addition, improvements in stability, safety, and operability were achieved by precisely controlling the load balance when seated and the operation of the movable parts. 

Crown Seat features 

With proper posture and stability achieved, the Crown Seat Desk Chair is able to translate automobile-grounded features to one’s workspace. 

For example, it gets a seat heater that is not only useful on cold days, but also when using air conditioning in the summer. Heat from the seat gently warms the back and lower back areas, which are prone to strain from prolonged sitting. 

Conversely, it has a ventilation function that draws in hot air from the backrest and seat. This feature can reduce stuffiness and maintain a comfortable experience even during long hours of work. 

It even has a USB-C port on the belt buckle that can be used to juice up devices conveniently. 

Adjustment is done electronically, thanks to a portable battery — allowing for reclining, lifting, lumbar support, and front tilt operation. 

Pricing, availability 

The Crown Seat Desk Chair has a sale price of ¥495,000 or approximately P194,118. 

Only 70 samples will be produced, per The Crown Tokyo Instagram page. 

Latest Toyota Boshoku news 

Not too long ago, Toyota Boshoku Corporation presented its Lounze+ concept at Auto China 2026. 

The said prototype is said to be a “spatial concept mock-up that transforms the vehicle from a means of transportation into an extension of the living space, offering occupants a sense of relaxation and peace of mind.” 

Aside from the concept, Toyota Boshoku Corporation also showcased seats for the Alphard luxury family van, as well as seats and interior fittings for the all-electric bZ7. 

Also featured are its personal headrest and health monitoring seat, mono-material door trim, and UpCycleZ recrafted products.
