Diesel-powered models drive Nissan PH Q1 2026 sales

MANILA: Nissan’s retail performance in the Philippines for the initial quarter of 2026 is driven by the Terra and Navara. 

Both drivers in their respective segments, the two nameplates led the company’s sales for the first three months locally—with the pickup truck providing the strongest firepower after selling 1,268 units and the midsize sport utility vehicle adding 1,250 units to the tally.

The tally from Nissan Philippines Incorporated (NPI) came amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East that resulted in the skyrocketing prices of products at the pump—especially in diesel.

Further contributing to  the local distributor’s performance for the first quarter of the year was the sales churn of the Nissan Livina after rolling out 746 units to customers.

Per NPI, the performance of the three highlight the marque’s strong presence in the pickup, SUV, and MPV categories, which are the highly-considered market for Filipino buyers. 

Other Nissan models in the country that showed growth are its lifestyle-oriented and premium offerings. 

During the three-month period, 322 examples of Nissan Patrol were handed over to clients in the Philippines—reflecting a year-on-year rise of 270-percent compared to 2025. On the other hand, 109 units of the Nissan Z have been turned over to customers—posting an 808-percent jump year over year.

Additionally, the Nissan Kicks e‑Power delivered strong growth in sales  with a 171-percent month-on-month increase. 

Based on the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) for March 2026, Nissan sold 4,634 vehicles—making it the fourth best-performing automotive distributor in the country in terms of sales.

Other efforts

Aside from its roster that covers key segments, Nissan also continues its efforts to tap more markets through dealer network expansion.

Recently, Nissan opened facilities in the following areas:

• Calamba, Laguna
• San Jose del Monte, Bulacan 

Soon, the firm will also inaugurate a new dealership in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Meanwhile, Nissan said that it is poised to introduce electrified models to widen its product lineup. “These upcoming launches are set to bring exciting choices to customers, who can look forward to fresh offerings that combine performance, innovation, and everyday practicality,” NPI said in a statement.

The firm issued the statement after the mother company announced that it will reduce its global product portfolio to 45 models from the current 56 nameplates. This move was linked to Nissan’s bid to save money. 

The 45-model roster will be subdivided into four classifications namely:

• Heartbeat Model
• Core Model
• Growth Model
• Partner Model

Recently, Nissan unveiled the latest concept for the returning Terrano nameplate (which will come as a plug-in hybrid product) and started the production of the all-new Kicks (expected to be offered in the Philippines soon) in Thailand.
