CAMPI-TMA xEV sales increase further in Q1 2026

MANILA: Sales of electrified vehicles (xEV) in the country continue to grow in the first quarter of 2026.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many electrified vehicles did CAMPI-TMA sell in January-March 2026?

The two organizations retailed 11,800 units in the first three months of 2026.
  • Who are the CAMPI-TMA xEV leaders as of March 2026?

Leading the sales for hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric segments last month were Toyota, Jetour Auto, and VinFast, respectively.
  • Based on the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), xEV’s year-to-date retail performance as of March 2026 grew by 36 percent—selling 11,800 units in the first three months compared to the 8,664 examples sold in the same period last year.

Last March alone, the two groups collectively sold 6,148 electrified units, 224-percent higher than the 1,895 turned over to clients over the same month in 2025 and 101 percent more versus February 2026’s 3,054 output.

According to CAMPI President Jose Maria Atienza, the shift became more pronounced following the recent crisis in the Middle East that prompted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to declare a state of national energy emergency in late March.

    Other stories:

“This continues the rising trend we have been observing the past few years. xEV adoption is mainly driven by users' growing understanding and acceptance of electrified technologies.  We expect this to grow further because of the country’s need for various energy efficient vehicles,” Atienza said.

“Rising oil prices will surely influence the Filipino motorists’ driving and vehicle purchase behavior. This will not only accelerate the preference for electrified vehicles but may also highlight the practicality of energy-efficient vehicles like smaller and lower displacement cars. The auto industry will evolve based on the market’s requirements,” he added.

Providing the biggest jolt for CAMPI-TMA’s xEV sales are models under the hybrid category, which accounted for 8,261 units, trailed by battery electric vehicles with 2,289, and plug-in hybrids with 1,250.

Here’s the breakdown of xEV sales in the first quarter of 2026 per category:

    Overall sales

CAMPI-TMA’s overall sales slid by nearly 10 percent in the initial three months of the year—rolling out 105,642 vehicles to buyers as of the previous month, in contrast to the 117,074 units handed over the same timeline in 2025.

In March 2026, the two organizations sold a total of 36,104 vehicles—reflecting a slight increase from last February’s 35,842-unit churn but showing a 10-percent slowdown against the 40,306 examples retailed in the same month of the previous year.
