Mercedes-Benz teases upcoming G-Class Cabriolet

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz is set to expand the G-Class lineup soon with the expected re-introduction of the Cabriolet option.

In a statement, the Three-Pointed Star marque shared that its comebacking offering is already undergoing rigorous test drives following the “hugely positive response to the first teaser details.”

 The premium automaker also mentioned that the returning Mercedes-Benz G‑Class Cabriolet reaffirms the brand’s unwavering commitment to excellence and shaping the future of this off-road icon.

For its first kilometers in Austria, engineers are collecting comprehensive data to ensure that the open-top driving experience for the vehicle “is promising an unparalleled and unmistakable G‑Class feeling for future drivers.”

Soon after, a test will also be conducted in Sweden, where it will be tested under rough winter conditions where its robustness, driving dynamics, and reliability will face icy temperatures and snowy landscapes.

“Whether it’s the original G‑Class or the new G‑Class Cabriolet ‑ every single one will ensure customers feel right at home behind the wheel. Mercedes‑Benz will share more details in due time about this special edition, which is set to redefine expectations and inspire adventure,” the company noted.

G-Class in PH

Currently, Mercedes-Benz Philippines — led by Inchcape Philippines — is offering the G-Class in internal combustion engine-powered (450d and AMG G 63) and pure electric options (580).

Among the ICE-propelled version’s technological highlights are:

• Off-road screen that shows climbing angle, incline or wheel angle. It also shows whether the differential locks or low range gearbox are active.
• Suspension with adaptive dampers that adjusts to one’s preferred driving style.
• Three engageable differential locks that guarantee forward propulsion, even in extreme road conditions.

Meanwhile the fumes-free option comes with:

• G-Turn and G-Steering for precise turning on challenging spots
• Parking package with 360-degree camera that offers comprehensive support
• Electric Dynamic Select that offers five drive modes, which include “Trail” and “Rock”
