Mercedes-Benz celebrates Bernhard Langer’s career through tape art in a G-Class

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz is honoring two legends this year: Bernhard Langer and the G-Class. Both have been at the top of their respective fields for over four decades.

This year's Masters Tournament is extra special for Bernhard Langer. The German, who was born in Anhausen and is one of golf's "Big Five," first competed in the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia 40 years ago. Langer has won two times: first in 1985 and again in 1993. Mercedes-Benz has developed something special — a truly personal masterpiece — to celebrate him and his decades-long career. Tape artist Leah Abucayan chronicles the story of the world-class golfer and his illustrious career on a Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

In a statement, Mercedes-Benz AG Communications and Marketing Head Bettina Fetzer said, “This is how we honor two icons — Bernhard Langer and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Bernhard Langer and the G-Class have been shaping the spirit of the time for more than 40 years and are both emblematic of our campaign claim 'Stronger than Time.'”

Meanwhile, Langer said, “I am delighted to receive this honor and am impressed by what has been created here. I have a lot in common with the G-Class. It already existed when I first competed here in 1982. Since then, we've both stayed true to ourselves, while at the same time always moving with the times and constantly evolving.”

The new season of men's major tournaments will start this month when the world's best golfers tee off at Augusta National Golf Club. For the 15th year, Mercedes-Benz will be a partner in this exclusive setting. Along with Langer, Spaniard Jon Rahm is expecting to have a successful tournament.  Rahm, who won a major last year, has piqued the interest of the golfing world. As a global Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador, he will wear the star on his sleeve for the first time at the 2022 Masters. The 27-year-old, who is now ranked second in the world, has finished in the top 10 in each of the last four Masters Tournaments.
