Mini retails nearly 300K vehicles globally in 2023

MANILA: Mini sold a total 295,474 vehicles in 2023, 0.9-percent higher than the previous year.

The sales increase reflects the longstanding appeal of the current generation of the Mini Three-Door, Five-Door, Convertible, Countryman, and Clubman worldwide. These models were further enhanced with limited editions as they approached the end of their lifecycles.

One of the special-edition models that were launched in 2023 is the Mini John Cooper Works 1-6, the last John Cooper Works to have a manual transmission.

It made its debut at the 24 hours of the Nürburgring, where it won a podium. The model was limited to 999 units.

The end of the Clubman era was also marked by the release of the Clubman Final Edition.

Another important factor in Mini’s success in 2023 was the notable rise in the adoption of battery electric vehicles, which made up 15.3 percent of the brand’s sales.

Mini’s fully electric models — the Cooper SE Convertible and 3-Door — sold a total of 45,261 units in 2023. Sales of fully electric vehicles increased by 3.5 percent, demonstrating the brand’s continued commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

“2023 has been an exceptional year for Mini. The accelerated adoption of our fully electric vehicles underscores our collective dedication to shaping a successful future,” Mini Head Stefanie Wurst stated.

“With the imminent arrival of our all-new Mini Family, we're excited to continue setting new standards in driving experience while advancing our commitment to more CO2 reduction. The enthusiastic reactions following the world premiere of our new and fully electric Mini Family at IAA Mobility, the Mini Cooper, and the Mini Countryman are very promising,” she added.

Among the members of the new Mini Family are the all-electric Cooper SE and E, Countryman SE All4, and Countryman E. These models feature state-of-the-art technology and engaging digital customer experience.

The British carmaker will also be launching the new Aceman, a fully electric compact five-seater crossover, soon.

Mini will also be releasing internal combustion engine variants of its new models this 2024, giving its customers a wider selection of drivetrain options.
