MINI Countryman Electric

The MINI Countryman Electric features a minimalist cabin layout that looks and feels very premium. You have plenty of room both in the first and second rows, effectively accommodating five passengers. For an SUV, it also comes with a decent cargo space for your groceries and baggage. Its double-cloth perforated synthetic leather seats are well-padded and offer great ergonomics for everyone on board even on longer trips. 

Like its EV cousins, it also comes with a 240mm circular OLED display that serves as the driver’s instrument panel and the infotainment system. The majority of the car’s features are touch-controlled via the OLED display, which might be a bit of an issue for drivers and passengers who are accustomed to physical buttons and knobs. But, on the plus side, its infotainment’s interface is responsive. This is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as MINI’s Intelligent Personal Assistant among others.

This SUV comes with a high-tech cockpit, which includes a multicontrol steering wheel, a head-up display, and an intelligent voice assistant, all of which help drivers perform at their best on the road. In addition, in terms of functionality, the Countryman Electric also has USB ports, an accessory power outlet, and a wireless charger. On top, you have a nice panorama sun roof.

The MINI Countryman Electric measures 4,445 mm in length, 1,843 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. It has a 2,692 mm wheelbase and runs on a set of 18-inch wheels with Asteroid Spoke Refined Silver rims.

On the road, this electric SUV looks confident and, at the same time, still has that hint of cuteness that MINI is known for. At the front, it has an assertive glare courtesy of its angular extra bright LED headlights with three switchable light signatures for the daytime running light. It sports MINI’s signature octagonal outline on its fascia, emphasizing its newer-gen identity. 

On the sides, it has an expensive-looking two-toned silhouette enhanced by a vibrant silver roof, mirrors, and side garnishes. Aside from these, it flaunts a modern, sporty back end accentuated by sleek LED tail lights with a distinct pattern, as well as a rugged-looking bumper with a stylish contrast of colour. Overall, the MINI Countryman Electric exudes a nice blend of youthfulness and boldness wherever it goes.

In terms of suspension, the MINI Countryman Electric utilizes a combination of a Double Wishbone at the front, while a Multi-Link at the rear. This setup allows this SUV to have sharp and responsive handling when passing through twisties and corners at high speeds despite its frame. However, this SUV’s ride is on the firmer side of things because of its large battery and bulky frame. But, on the plus side, body rolls are mediated inside the cabin and, at the same time, you get more grip and control on the road. 

The MINI Countryman Electric runs on dual electric motors that generate a maximum power output of 230 kW (313 hp) and a maximum torque of 494 Nm. These electric motors are powered by a 66.5 kWh (gross content) battery pack that delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 433 km. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes.

This electric SUV is incredibly fast out on the open road, going from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds. Its electric powertrain delivers a nice pull off the line, allowing you to overtake on free-flowing highways with ease. It runs smoothly and quietly thanks to its impressive NVH suppression system. Its driving range would be great for your daily city commute and weekend short-distance out-of-town trips. Overall, it delivers a satisfying spaceship-like cruising experience at high speeds. 

The MINI Countryman Electric comes with a suite of driving assistance features. This includes a collision warning, lane departure warning with lane return, lane change warning, crossing traffic warning, exit warning, active cruise control and lane keeping, and speed limit assistant among others. In terms of braking, this SUV is equipped with front ventilated discs and rear discs.

In my opinion, the MINI Countryman Electric is arguably one of the most practical, functional, and road-capable among the newer-generation MINI vehicles. Its price isn’t far from the MINI Cooper Electric and MINI Aceman, yet it offers more passenger and cargo space, while retaining the same cutting-edge technology and advanced safety features.
