MPTC to offer free tolls on Dec. 24, 31

MANILA: Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) will offer free tolls on its highway network on December 24, 2025, and December 31, 2025. 

Covered under this toll-free initiative are the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). On both aforementioned dates, the toll-free passages will begin at 6:00 a.m.

Notably, the said toll relief program is under MPTC’s “Biyaheng Arangkada: Pasko 2025.” It is applicable to all motorists, and as suggested by its schedule, is in preparation for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations. 

Holiday traffic preparations

Apart from offering toll-free days on several highways in Luzon, MPTC is also preparing to meet the holiday traffic rush to ensure smooth and safe travels for all motorists.

Included in its lineup of early measures are full manpower deployment, like additional traffic and toll teams, the rollout of free towing services, and more emergency response staff, barrier-up operations, as well as the strategic application of counterflow schemes. 

“Our goal this holiday season is to have motorists spend time on the road and more time with their families,” MPTC and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Chairman Manuel Pangilinan said.

“We’ve prepared early, deployed full manpower, and have initiated barrier-up operations, counterflow measures, free towing services, and toll-free passage. The toll-free initiative is our way of giving back to motorists. We hope it helps ease their travels during this holiday season,” Pangilinan added.

Additionally, MPTC will be suspending all roadworks and lane closures starting from 6:00 a.m. on December 19, 2025, until 12 p.m. (noon) on January 5, 2026. The company will likewise make sure that all lanes and toll plazas will remain open to accommodate the holiday traffic rush. 

On NLEX, a counterflow lane will be opened, depending on traffic conditions. These will be active on Fridays (5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) for northbound, and on Sundays (2:00 p.m.) and early Mondays (5:00 a.m.) for southbound. Entry for the said counterflow lanes will start at Balintawak Expansion Plaza for northbound, and at the Bocaue Expansion Plaza for southbound.
