Much-anticipated Compact SUV Volvo XC40 Test Mule Spied

MANILA: Volvo is quite busy in making some new reforms in its production line. With the Successful run of the new XC90 which is based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). The follow ups are S90 sedan and V90 estate. Now, Volvo is planning to cook up its latest Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).

The spy pictures reveal the details of the new test mule which is likely to become XC40 Compact SUV. We don't have much to say about the body design details as the test mule seems wearing the body of the existing V40 hatchback. However, there are variety of significant details like tail light and ground clearance. Undoubtedly, the wheelbase of the car is different from the existing V40 and the car appears taller.

Running to the rear revels the revised length of the body with a different wheelbase. The XC40 is expected to make a global debut around 2017 but in that time span, Volvo might come up with some amazing range of SUVs which may share many things in common with the next generation V40 hatchback. The next-gen V40 will be based on the new architecture while the outgoing model is based on the Ford developed Global C platform.

The company is dedicated to develop a new class of compact SUV in order to compete with rivals like Mercedes Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and the BMW X1. Also, Volvo's new range of Drive-E based petrol and diesel engines seems to power the new XC40 along with a T5 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid.
