Phoenix x FamilyMart roll out mobile stores in service stations
MANILA: As the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be implemented in Luzon, numerous stores have begun to provide more convenient and safer ways for consumers to purchase necessities.
Thus, FamilyMart launched its “Fam on Wheels” in a couple of Phoenix Petroleum service stations in Metro Manila on April 22. These include the Phoenix West Service Road branch at West Service Road (beside the Intercity Village) in Cupang, Muntinlupa City, and the Phoenix Dahlia branch at Daisy Street, Dahlia Avenue, West Fairview, Quezon City.
Fam on Wheels is a mobile store aimed at providing essential goods like household items and food to consumers in their communities. The rolling store trucks provide dressings, spreads, instant noodles, snacks, pantry and culinary staples such as rice and condiments, confectionery, canned goods, breakfast staples, beverages, household care items, health, and personal items.
To guarantee the safety of Phoenix personnel and customers, contactless transactions and social distancing are being practiced.
Phoenix Petroleum and FamilyMart have thought of this initiative as a way of delivering alternative convenience to consumers affected by the ongoing ECQ. Fam on Wheels will make its way on more communities and cities in the coming days.
Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. acquired Philippine FamilyMart (PFM), the third-largest convenience store brand in the country, last January 2018. PFM is involved in FamilyMart convenience stores running in company-owned and franchise-owned formats in the Philippines. It provides a variety of services and goods, including ATMs, payment of bills, auto-loading, convenience store items, and ready-to-eat products.
In the acquisition, Phoenix Petroleum purchased the whole stake of SIAL CVR Retailers, Inc. (a combined venture between the SSI Group Inc. and ALI Capital Corp. of Ayala Land Inc.), Itochu Corporation, and the FamilyMart Co., Ltd. for the Philippine operations of Family Mart. The acquisition has also extended the scope of Phoenix Petroleum from LPG, lubricants, and fuels to the rapidly growing convenience store retailing.
Phoenix Petroleum has a total of 523 stations in the country. In 2017, it penetrated the LPG market following its acquisition of Petronas Energy Philippines Inc., now Phoenix LPG Philippines, Inc. Phoenix Petroleum is currently the leading autonomous oil company in the country, which is involved in hauling, in-plane services, operation of storage services and oil depots, and the promotion and trading of refined petroleum products like lubricants and LPG.
