This is New Das Auto, California
MANILA: Before mind tickles further, let me explain, the German automaker which makes people's car named as the Volkswagen Group has officially introduced its California, a stylish and new translation of the contemporary campervan. The model is based on current Transporter T6 and comes in three variants- Beach, Coast and Ocean. The engine line-up which is found here is from the Volkswagen collection of TDI engines that generates power in between 84 PS and 204 PS, and the TSI engine which gives output ranging from 149 PS to 204 PS.
Volkswagen says that California is a perfect blend of a 7-seater van and a motorhome. The California Beach offers pop-top roof with two different seating patterns that include either a 3-seater bench with a multi-flex board or a 2-deck seat with storage compartment. It also comes with picnic table and folding chairs that are mounted to the tailgate.
Climbing the ladder, comes the coast variant of California that includes a cooking area with a stainless steel sink, two-burner stoves, and a 42-liter cooler. Higher end furniture with wood and aluminum accents are the bonus here.
The best of the California, the Ocean has more comfort features that include power pop-top roof, double glazed windows, LED lights with dim function and auxiliary heating system. The App Connect and Volkswagen's infotainment system is standard here, whereas it is optional in Beach and Coast. Another standard feature for all three variants is the folding double bed in the first floor.
Thus, with such flexibilities and facilities that California offers, it can be said that the variants of California are tactfully named wherein they playfully suggest that may it be a beach or any other coast, “home is where you park it.”
