Toyota Finds Place in the World’s Top 50 Smartest Companies List

MANILA: Toyota adds another feather in its cap as the MIT Technology Review, US based media company includes it in the list of World's Top 50 Smartest Companies. The Japanese auto producer is known for powering its vehicles with finest quality and innovative technology. Getting a name in the list which has global IT giants like MIcrosoft, Facebook, Alphabet, Amazon and more is next to fantasy for the Japanese auto maker.

This is what the Toyota’s North America CEO, Jim Lentz had to say, “We're very grateful to be recognized by MIT, one of the finest educational institutions in the world. Toyota's scientists are committed to innovation and leading the way to a future of mobility that is cleaner, safer, and provides freedom of mobility for all. In the spirit of kaizen, Toyota is committed to improving every day in the service of our customers and society.” Being an automotive giant, it is certainly an honor to get a place in that list, which was gracefully accepted by the CEO of Toyota.

Toyota has been ranked 17th in the list of top 50 while Amazon, world’s top e-commerce giant secured the first spot followed by Baidu and Illumina. The list was loaded with IT giants and Toyota was recognized as the most distinguished brand amongst them. Apart from Toyota, which was recently in talks due to its Corolla launch in Russia, the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturing company, Tesla Motors grabbed a spot as well and was ranked 4th in the list. The list of top 50 companies was based on the criterion that states that a company involved innovative technology with an effective business model.

Toyota’s hydrogen fuel vehicle, the Mirai was one of the major highlight that accounted it to grab a place in that list. It was world’s first mass-produced and marketed hydrogen vehicle while another major highlight was its involvement in developing a network of reliable and accessible hydrogen fuel stations. In addition to this, the company also opened a research center named Toyota Research Institute which is dedicated to study future of mobility, robotics and artificial intelligence.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one of the finest educational institute in US, which is widely accepted for its scientific inventions and studies around technology and business. It founded and now funds the world’s renowned global media company of Cambridge, MIT Technology Review, which specializes in covering the latest from the worlds of business, technology and science.
