2017 Toyota Corolla Makes Global Debut In Russia

MANILA: Just like any other automaker, Toyota is also on a spree of consecutive launches. The brand introduced its all the more aggressive Toyota Previa and now it has made the global debut of 2017 Toyota Corolla. The facelift now reflects the brand’s “Keen Look” and ‘Under Priority’ design language, which results in a more chiseled look. The majority of the changes are done in the exterior styling and this can be seen by just a single glance at the car. The slender grille flanked by new LED headlamps, which grants a wider stance as compared to the previous version.

The door handles have received a new chrome finish, the side profile is quite similar to the previous one and 16-inch to 17-inch alloy wheels accentuates the sporty profile of the sedan. At the rear, the new taillights, sleeker chrome garnish, a more aggressive rear bumper all together emphasizes the 2017 Corolla Altis width.  The officials said the news Altis will carry a blend of piano black and satin black finish and have better ergonomics along with refined materials. Some of the new additions include an upgraded instrument cluster and new MID screen which is quite similar to the 2016 Innova and Toyota Fortuner.  Even the new infotainment system has been borrowed from the 2016 Innova and probably have the same features.

The Russian model will carry the same 1.8-litre Dual VVT-i and a 1.4-litre diesel engine along with 7-speed CVT and 6-speed manual gearbox options. But, the Philippines will continue to get 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engine options with power output measuring 120 hp and 147 hp respectively. The officials have not confirmed when the Philippines will receive the facelift model but, it is sure that the new Corolla Altis will surely give neck-to-neck rivalry to Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and newly launched Honda Civic.
