Toyota PH caps off 3rd round of 2021 Toyota GR GT Cup

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) successfully wrapped up the third round of the 2021 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup last June 25 and 26.

Over 200 e-racers participated in the biggest e-motorsports competition of the year. The third round of the race virtually brought the participants to the Fuji International Speedway in Shizuoka, Japan. The 4.5-kilometer track used to be the home of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix. Racers were challenged by the circuit’s 16 turns, some of which are tough chicanes and hairpin corners.

The top spot of the Junior Class was claimed by Russel Cabrera, who consistently led the race until the last minute. Cabrera earned a total of 82.5 points for all races and set the fastest lap at 1:50.95. He was followed by Joshua Marquez, who got a total of 75 points for all races. The third spot was taken by David Ison with 50 points for all races.

Jehter Miole was able to keep the top spot of the Promotional Class. He received a total of 90 points for all races. He was followed by Marcus Vita, who earned a total of 48 points for all races. Julius Quitlong took the third spot in the Round 3 race, giving him a total of 24 points. However, in the final tally points, Owen Rada overtook him with a total of 47 points.

Luis Moreno ruled the Sporting Class, earning a total of 85 points for the entire race. Returning racer Terence Lallave claimed second with a total of 72.5 points for all races. Corban Guerrero took the third spot in the Round 3 race, getting a total of 29.5 points. However, Luis Padilla claimed the overall third spot as he garnered 44 points in the final tally.

The top six finishers of the Promotional and Sporting classes will compete in the upcoming national round qualifiers. Big prizes will be given away in the finals, including a brand-new Sony PlayStation 5 and a cash prize.
