Toyota takes part earthquake relief efforts in Japan

MANILA: Toyota announced that it is joining the relief efforts to help those affected by the recent earthquake that wreaked havoc in the Japanese Noto Peninsula.

According to the carmaker, it has decided to provide those affected by the natural calamity with supplies and funds.

In cooperation with vehicle dealers, Toyota Rental and Leasing stores, as well as Toyota Mobility Parts, the automotive firm will provide relief supplies, vehicle loans, and disaster relief volunteers to the municipalities struck by the earthquake.

“We will work to provide appropriate support while carefully identifying what sort of aid is needed the most,” Toyota said in a press release.

Further, the Aichi-headquartered car brand revealed that it will donate a total of ¥50 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society, the Central Community Chest of Japan, Japan Platform, and a specified non-profit organization.

Moreover, Toyota noted that it will also donate the amount of money raised through its employees’ fundraising activities to support the disaster-affected areas.

“We will continue to provide aid that is needed by consulting with the government, local governments, and support groups, as well as carefully confirming the local situation,” the company said in a statement.

“We sincerely hope for the earliest possible restoration of the affected areas,” it added.

Recently, Toyota stated that it will continue to run its local factories in Japan after the devastating earthquake. Reports from global media outlets say that the earthquake that hit the country was 7.5 in magnitude, which is why it caused damage to infrastructures and claimed the lives of several people.
