2-tranche toll hikes on SMC-operated expressways set next year

MANILA: After announcing temporary relief for Christmas and New Year’s eves, toll fees on select San Miguel Corporation (SMC)-manned expressways shall reflect toll increases starting early 2026.

Per TRB, notices for the toll rate hikes were based on the petition of SMC SLEX, Incorporated and Manila Toll Expressway Systems (MATES) in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024 (for SLEX) and Star Infrastructure Development Corporation in 2017, 2020, and 2023 (for the Apolinario Mabini Highway).
Movements on the pricing of the two expressways shall be implemented in two tranches: January 1, 2026 and July the same year.

SLEX toll price hikes
For SLEX, motorists need to pay an additional P0.74 for Class 1 vehicles, P1.48 for Class 2 and P2.22 for Class 3 for its per-kilometer toll (value added tax inclusive)

With this, an extra P10, P21, and P31 for Classes 1,2, and 3 must be settled in the Alabang-Calamba section and an added P3, P5, and P8 for the same categories who will use the Calamba to Santo Tomas portion.
The upcoming toll rate alteration for SLEX is its third periodic adjustment since it was fully opened in 2011.
STAR Tollways’ adjustment
Meanwhile, the alterations in the toll price of the STAR Tollway are P0.41, P0.83 and P1.24 for Classes 1, 2, and 3 vehicles respectively.

End to end, the STAR Tollways’ initial section will have an additional rate of P5, P9 and P14.00 for Classes 1, 2, and 3 respectively while in Section 2, P4, P8, and P12.
