Volkswagen to debut near-production concept Golf GTD in Geneva

MANILA: Even if the eighth-generation Golf is just year old, Volkswagen is already looking into the future and is set to unveil a near-production concept of the Golf GTD at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

This new model’s platform will be based on the MK8 Golf but it will have a more powerful and cleaner engine because it uses two SCR catalytic converters that will lower emissions while improving responsiveness.

According to Volkswagen, NOx emission will be “greatly reduced” and will make this new Golf GTD “one of the cleanest combustion engines in the world”.

Its four-cylinder engine is engaged via a “pulsing button” that’s housed in a new-age digital cockpit.
