Will the Philippines see the entry of Cadillac Cars this year ?

MANILA: The Cadillac Motor Division, or simply Cadillac has been one of the most iconic names in popular culture and have been on the forefront of luxury automobiles across the globe. It is also one of the oldest automobile brands and is named after the French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. Antoine Cadillac played an important role in the founding of Detroit, an American city known for its automobile industries and the birthplace of Cadillac cars. The brand is owned by General Motors who have hinted its arrival for the Philippine market. The news was spurred through a report from Covenant Car Company Inc. who currently hold the distribution rights for Chevrolet cars in Philippines. In the report it was revealed that they are planning to bring another luxury GM brand in the Philippine market this year and according to most speculations, it would be Cadillac. Although the officials at Chevrolet Philippines are still not making things clear, this certainly adds a lot of anticipation among fans and buyers, resulting in a high demand. The filipino buyer must currently pay a lot of duties and taxes or risk importing it through the grey market to drive a ‘Caddie’ in their country. If the Cadillac Brand makes its way in the Asia Pacific market, it will certainly spawn a new race among the existing automotive brands and improve GM's sales in the region. When asked about the Cadillac Brand’s presence in Philippines, the spokesperson from The Covenant Car Company Inc. stated that they would certainly love to bring the brand in the country and are definitely thinking about the various possibilities of doing so. If this happens, the Philippine buyers will be able to get their hands on a variety of Cadillac cars such as the Escalade, SRX and the Allante roadster.
