Wunder Carpool to be discontinued from June 28, 2019
MANILA: Starting from 28 June 2019, Wunder Carpool will be putting an end to its services in Manila, Philippines. The company sent an email to its customers today, i.e., 24 June 2019 announcing the discontinuation. While the operations will be halted on 28 June, later this month, support channels stay live till 12 July 2019. The application will also be removed from online stores soon after the discontinuation of the operations.
“Believe us when we say that this decision was not taken lightly. We gave it a lot of thought and came to the conclusion that in order to maximize our efforts in accelerating our vision of a better mobility ecosystem worldwide, stopping our operations in Manila on the 28th of June would be the most appropriate course of action”, stated the company via the email.
Launched in March 2016, Wunder Carpool services allowed a driver to map his or her route and pick & drop passengers in between. However, the drivers did not make any profit off pickup up and dropping off passengers. Moreover, only the passengers who were present on the driver’s route could be picked and dropped.
A cease and desist order against Wunder Carpool was reinforced against Wunder Carpool by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in 2017. Users can withdraw their balances before 28 June.
