Suzuki Gixxer 250: A backbone motorcycle worth buying?

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is ideal for those traveling short distances but want a capable motorcycle

Suzuki Gixxer 250: A backbone motorcycle worth buying?

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is a middleweight motorcycle competing in the country’s naked bike category. Sure it has aggressive styling and a capable engine, but are sub-400 cubic centimeter (cc) rides like itself worth buying? Stick with us if you’re interested to find out.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Suzuki Gixxer 250?

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is powered by a 249cc engine.
  • How much is the Suzuki Gixxer 250?

The Suzuki Gixxer 2502 is priced at P182,900.
  • Just enough ‘oomph’

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is fitted with a four-stroke, one-cylinder, four-valve, engine with a displacement size of 249cc.

Per Suzuki Philippines Incorporated, the powerplant produces as much as 26.13 horses with 22.2 Newton-meters of pulling power. On that note, the motorcycle can generate just the right amount of power without being too jumpy, making it ideal for beginners who want to graduate from riding scooters.

Further, its decent-sized engine makes the Suzuki Gixxer 250 a motorcycle that’s relatively easy to maneuver allowing light-built riders to easily master the naked bike.

Though not expressway-legal, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 offers potent power production to help get its owners from point A to point B with ease.

    Sporty looks

As we briefly covered earlier, the Suzuki Gixxer is a motorcycle that has some aggressiveness to it.

Like any full-fledged naked motorcycle, it dons a small (yet bright) headlamp sitting on exposed front shock absorbers. The handlebars are also stripped of any covering as well as its inverted instrument panel.

It gets a large 12-liter fuel tank that is barely covered by its skimpy side fairings. Down below it is the exposed engine with but an underguard cover to protect it.

The rear end of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 gets a tapered tail and a protruding rear fender that also serves as the plate number holder and the mount for the rear turn signals.

It rides on 17-inch wheels with 110/70 tires at the front and 150/60 rubber at the rear. Both of which are tubeless tires.

Adding to its sporty appeal, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is available in two colors: Matte Stellar Blue — and our favorite — Metallic Matte Black.

    Affordable motorcycle

Another advantage of buying the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is its affordable price tag. Instead of spending more than half a million pesos for a 400cc motorcycle, a middleweight naked bike like the Gixxer 250 costs only P182,900.

That said, it makes for a great option for motorcycle buyers willing to compromise power for a cheaper price tag.

    Final thoughts

To answer our question, yes, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is worth buying, especially if you’re on a budget and looking to level up your riding skills.

It’s also a great springboard for those who eventually want to ride big bikes in the future.
