Pope Leo signs BMW R18, motorcycle to be sent for auction

MANILA:  A BMW R18 has been signed by Pope Leo XIV, which will be later sent for auction. 

The American pontiff autographed the cruiser-type motorbike in front of the St. Peter’s Basilica following his general audience. 

Per the photos released by the Vatican News, the bike is finished in fitting white paint with the R18 nameplate on the side fairing as well as the script “LEO XIV” on the engine cover. The signature of His Holiness can be seen on the side of the fuel tank. 

According to the Vatican News Facebook page, the proceeds of the auction — which will be held at Sotheby’s in Munich, through the Pontifical Mission Societies of Austria — will help fund a school in Madagascar for children forced to work in mica mines.
