Suzuki to field sustainable GSX-R1000R bike for Suzuka 8 Hours

MANILA: Suzuki Motor Corporation is entering this year’s Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Race with a GSX-R1000R race bike that uses 100 percent sustainable fuel and many other environmentally friendly products. 

The said bike, per the Japanese marque, is an improvement over the team’s previous racing machine, which utilized 40 percent bio-sourced fuel. As a result of the newer race-spec ride, Suzuki says that it is able to achieve a “higher level of environmental load reduction and improved competitiveness.”

To note, the 100 percent sustainably-fuelled bike will be fielded by Team Suzuki CN Challenge, which is composed of the motorcycle manufacturer’s employees. With the better race-spec machine, the team is likewise aiming to exceed its overall result from last year’s eighth place. 

“While overcoming the issues revealed from our previous activity, this year we will expand the use of sustainable items and make efforts for technology development toward taking on the challenge of further sustainability performance,” Suzuki Motorcycle Operations General Manager Tsuyoshi Tanaka said. 

“We will challenge in this year’s Suzuka Eight Hours by going beyond the field of CN (carbon neutrality) and holding a theme of broadly reducing environmental loads. I ask for your kind support,” Tanaka added.

For folks who want to catch Team Suzuki CN Challenge in action, be aware that the 2025 Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Race will kick from August 1-3. 

In the Philippine market, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R is priced at P1.219 million. It features a 999-cubic-centimeter, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam engine paired with a wet-type multiplate clutch. At maximum, it can generate up to 199 horsepower.
