Yamaha YZF-R25 to be unveiled at the 2018 Indonesia Motorcycle Show
MANILA: Yamaha is expected to take the mystery covers off the new YZF-R25 at the 2018 Indonesia Motorcycle Show slated to happen in November later this year. While the engine specifications are expected to be the same as before, the bike will be restyled for a sharper look. Along with this, the new Yamaha R3 would be revealed for the first time in November 2018 that looks similar to the YZF-R25.
The current design of the Yamaha YZF-R25 and the R3 will be moulded into a more aggressive avatar, making it look sportier and edgier than before. The redesigned front of both the motorcycles will feature a sleek LED headlamp unit and sharper creases similar to what we have seen on the new Yamaha R15. Owing to which, the fairing design on the new R3 is also expected to undergo a change to suit the reworked front.
The newer versions of both the bikes will get the USD forks at the front. Though USD forks are expensive than the conventional telescopic ones, Yamaha might include the latter for the Philippines market to keep the costs down.
Both the new bikes are expected to munch power from the same engines as before. The YZF-R25 boasts a liquid-cooled, parallel-twin 249cc engine that pumps out a max power of 35.4 PS and a peak torque of 22.6 Nm. The Yamaha R3, on the other hand, is powered by a parallel-twin, liquid-cooled 321cc engine that churns out 42 PS of power and 29.6 Nm of torque. Both will be coupled to a 6-speed transmission unit. Additionally, they will benefit from the slipper clutch and Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology.
Aside from this, components like clip-on handlebars, dual-tone exhaust, LED tail lamp and step-up split seat are likely to remain the same as before.
