Aion V Review 2026
The Aion V is a compact crossover SUV that highlights GAC’s standard when it comes to an enjoyable family driving experience–blending top-notch spaciousness and comfort with modern technology and advanced safety features. Its launch last year marked the official entry of Aion, the electric sub-brand of GAC Group, into the local automotive industry. In the Philippines, the Aion V comes in two variants - base Elite and higher-spec Premium, which are priced at ₱1.498 million and ₱1.698 million respectively. This SUV is available in two colours: Galaxy Blue and Arctic White.
Aion V Interior & Features
If the Aion V’s exterior design looks very rugged and confident, then its interior layout is a whole different story. Its cabin comes with luxurious leather seats, which are plush and very ergonomic. Both variants come with ventilated driver and front passenger seats. However, only the Premium trim also gets eight-point massage seats for enhanced comfort and luxury. In terms of space, this SUV can effectively accommodate five passengers and has a decent 427-L trunk capacity.
Upon entering, the driver is greeted by its intelligent cockpit, which consists of an 8.88-inch full-LCD instrument display, a leatherette-trimmed steering wheel with multiple controls, and a luxurious-looking center console with a 50W wireless charger.
Meanwhile, at the center of its dashboard is a 14.6-inch infotainment display, which offers Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, in-car WiFi, and a four-zone voice control system. Its infotainment is linked to a 9-speaker sound system with 5.1 surround sound. The majority of the car’s interior features are controlled via the center display.
For more convenience, this SUV also comes with three USB ports (front: 2, rear: 1), two 12V power sockets, multiple cup and bottle holders, as well as a refrigerator for the Premium variant. The Aion V also features a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade for that ‘IG-worthy’ aesthetic.
Aion V Exterior
Both variants of the Aion V measure 4,605 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,686 mm in height. This SUV has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm and a ground clearance of 171 mm (150 mm when fully-loaded).
The Aion V’s design resembles a robotic dinosaur, accentuated by its talon-like front and rear DRLs, which the brand calls as “Cyber T-Rex Claws.” Upfront, it sports a bold-looking pair of LED automatic headlights and a rugged bumper, emphasizing its robust personality on the road.
Furthermore, its side profile is defined by a mix of muscular curves and bone-like accents displayed through its side skirts and 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Additionally, its hidden door handles and electronic side mirrors (with memory and heating functions) further enhance its hypermodern aura.
At the back, it has a distinct-looking design, illuminated by claw-like LED tail lights. This SUV also comes with rear fog lights and a high-mounted brake light for more visibility at all times. And, for more storage, you also get a roof rack on top.
Aion V Ride & Handling
The Aion V model line comes with a MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and a Torsion Beam non-independent type at the rear. Its setup is tuned more for comfort than performance. That said, its steering has a tendency to be too soft or light when you are driving spiritedly. But, on the plus side, this SUV absorbs bumps and other road imperfections excellently. Ultimately, this EV can deliver a comfortable and pliant riding experience for all occupants.
Aion V Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Aion V lineup runs on a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, but with different tuning and battery pack for each variant. First, the higher-spec Premium’s motor, which delivers 165 kW and 240 Nm of torque, is powered by a 75.26-kWh battery that offers an NEDC driving range of 603 km.
On the other hand, the base Elite’s motor, which produces 135 kW and 240 Nm of torque (same as the Premium variant), is powered by a 64.5-kWh battery that delivers a 504-km NEDC driving range. Both variants utilize a front-wheel drivetrain and offer three driving modes: Comfort, Sport, and Power Saver. However, only the Premium trim supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
Regardless of the powertrain, both variants offer a smooth, linear power delivery off the line. You’ll be able to overtake slower vehicles on free-flowing highways with this SUV. Both variants can be an efficient and reliable driver for your daily city commute. However, the Premium trim has the advantage when it comes to long-distance driving.
Aion V Braking & Safety
In terms of safety, the Aion V model line is equipped with the brand’s ADiGO Intelligent Driving System, which includes a 360-degree parking camera, a smart camera, a high-precision millimeter-wave radar, intelligent high beam control, integrated cruise assistance, automatic emergency braking, forward and rear collision warning, lane departure warning and assist, emergency lane keeping assist, blind spot detection, door opening warning, rear cross traffic alert, and a full-speed adaptive cruise control system.
In terms of braking, this SUV comes with front ventilated discs and rear solid discs. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, and hydraulic brake assist to name a few.
Aion V Verdict
The Aion V is a very well-rounded EV. It delivers in all the necessary factors that make family trips more enjoyable and worthwhile (i.e., comfort, practicality, and safety). That said, it stands out as a compelling option for families planning to shift to all-electric mobility.
