Chery Tiggo 8

While the Chery Tiggo 8 does not have as the rich-in-feel cabin as that of the smaller Tiggo 7, the cabin of the Tiggo 8 surely is one plush and premium space to be in. There are a couple of design elements that again make its cabin a place to be talked about.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering is a simple unit, however, the fully digital instrument console surely isn’t, as it looks nice and futuristic with its all-digital layout and blue backlit theme. The centre console on the dashboard too looks distinctive with sleek AC vents on the upper portion and a wide housing which engulfs a large rectangular touchscreen infotainment system and an offset large AC vent as well. The soft-touch dashboard and textured pattern flowing across the dashboard make it look nice and premium.

The three rows of seats get individual AC vents and multiple seating configurations, and the presence of a number of comfort and convenience features like panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, push-button start with keyless entry and three-zone automatic climate control make things even easier.

Compared to all the other SUVs from Chery, the Tiggo 8 is easily the most stylish and contemporary SUV of the lot, thus perfectly fitting its flagship tag.

At the front, the Chery Tiggo 8 has a busy and swanky design layout, which comprises of a large and wide front grille, which has rounded edges and is partitioned into two segments by a sleek chrome line flowing across it.

This chrome line extends all the way beyond to the bottom of the headlamps on either side, which do look premium thanks to their big size and inclusion of LED projector bulbs. The sleek daytime running LED strips are placed in the faux air vents in the front bumper, which also gets a rugged-looking silver skid plate.

The Chery Tiggo 8 continues to its heightened stance on the sides as well, with high ground clearance, thin body cladding, roof rails, large 18-inch alloy wheels, and high shoulder line accentuating its SUV-ish appeal even more.

At the rear though, Chery Tiggo 8 possesses the least visual drama, with a strip of light joining the wide tail lamps with LED inserts, just below the windshield.  The roof spoiler with high mounted stop lamp looks nice as well.

Riding on large 18-inch wheels, the Chery Tiggo 8 comes fitted with Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, which has been set up on a softer side in order to give a supple ride quality across all speed ranges. However, thanks to the bulky body and high centre of gravity, one can feel body roll, especially while turning at higher speeds.

The Chery Tiggo 8 shares both of its engine options with the smaller Tiggo 7, however, for the former, they have been fine-tuned keeping in mind the added bulk. The standard 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine is available with a CVT gearbox as standard, which belts out 122 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is being offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT gearbox, and in both the versions, it generates 152 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque.

For its price, the Chery Tiggo 8 has been blessed with all the essential safety elements like six airbags, ABS with EBD, 360-degree parking camera, cornering fog lamps, electronic stability control, electric parking brake, and hill hold assist.

The Chery Tiggo 8 justifies its premium flagship positioning with its good road presence owing to its large size and impressive styling. For a seven-seater SUV, it packs in enough space and features to label itself as a premium luxury SUV by today’s standards.
